Liquid Inn - Night Club
 
 
 

Located along Markham Road, opposite the old Lae airport terminal, Liquid Inn is one of Lae's hottest venue for clubbing. It features a beer garden, expansive bar facilities and pool tables. Located near the beer garden is a snack bar.

The venue supports regular fund-raising activities for sporting clubs and charity organisations. Visiting bands also books the Liquid Inn for their highligh presentations.

Poker machines are available for customers and there is ample car-parking space and tight security. Dress codes are tropical formal or as specified on particular occasions.

Club 69 - Night Club

Club 69 is located in the St. Ignatius Kilage Stadium complex. This Nightclub is also very popular nightspot in Lae where Fridays and Saturdays are usually crowded with young people.

Club 69 often holds theme nights where certain clientele is encouraged - such as 'Workforce' night which is usually Wednesdays. Thursday evenings are 'Easy-50's night which is specifically for fundraising events.

The last Friday of the month is White Night where visitors dressed in white before 9.00pm has free entry.

last Saturday of each month is Ladies Night only, a very popular evening where the Lae Ladies can feel safe to party in comfort. Men can join in the fun after 10.30pm.

Parking is secure at your convenience. The Club opens from 8:00pm to 1:30am.

It also has a non smokers zone, good ventilation, with lighting as good as any club overseas with laser, smoke machine, floor lights and spotties. Club 69 occasionally has visitng DJs playing the latest in digital music.

Lae Yacht Club
The Lae Yacht Club & Marina was newly re-located in 2004 and now faces the panoramic vista of the Huon Gulf. Due to its scenic view it is a favorite watering-hole for business folks, local anglers and boaties after a stressful day at the office.

The new Marina is home to the Lae Gamefishing Club, and can moor approximately 50 or more gamefishing boats during a gamefishing tournament.

During Easter 2006, the Lae Yacht Club was host to the PNG National Gamefishing Titles that boast of a record of over 300 angler participants, over a 10-day game-fishing & tagging spectacular. Anglers from around PNG, Australia and USA attended the popular Fishing tournament.

Overseas students from Lae resident families travel home especially to participate in these tournaments. The Young Anglers program is well fostered with the Lae Gamefishing club, especially the tag-&-release program. The tournament is regularly visited by the international gamefishing journalist of 'Blue Water' magazine fame, Peter Pakula, who claims PNG is one of his favorite places to fish in the world.

The Lae Yacht Club holds regular local fishing tournaments almost every month of the year. Tournament locations vary from Salamaua, Huon District, Finschhafen District and around the Huon Coast. An annual local tournament that is very popular amongst the local anglers is the Tami Island Tournament.

The venue facilities cater for corporate functions with a difference, Balls and other celebratory occasions. It is also the annual special location for the Gun-Breakfast after the Anzac Day Dawn Service.

Lae Golf Club
The Lae Golf Club is the jewel golf course of Papua New Guinea. It is also the home of the Morobe Open which is part of North Queensland Professional Tour. Visiting International and local Professionals compete annually for the Morobe Open which is held in April every year.

Every weekend the Club hosts tournaments with fantastic prizes being won i.e. TVs, crystal ware, electrical items, crockery and sports equipment. A frequency is Trade Day Events during the week for Companies that wish to promote their business using the Golf Trade Day concept.

The Lae Golf Club plays host to presentation dances and some fund-raising events due to its open-plan venue. It also has a large island bar and a big screen TV for those popular international PGA tournaments, weekly football games and the like. It also caters to children's play area with adequate security and ample parking.

Other facilities offered are well appointed tennis courts that also holds local club tournaments and soon to be, bowling greens.

Lae Squash Club
The Lae Squash Courts is located at Chinatown inside the Lae Chinese Club surrounds. There are two glass-backed courts and two enclosed courts.

The Squash Club holds weekly tournaments to which anyone is welcome to join as a member. Every Easter the Lae Squash Club holds the Lae Open Squash Tournament with the occasional PNG National Titles held at this location.

Lae Bowls Club
The Lae Bowls Club is also a popular Club that fosters an active membership. The Members participate in weekly Bowls tournaments.

This popular Club also has some Members having represented PNG in international games such as the South Pacific Games.

The Aviat Club
The Aviat Club is the home of Lae Snooker, where many a Snooker Tournaments have been held. The Aviat also fosters the popular Lae Darts Club. Of recent a darts team represented Lae from this Club at the National Darts Championships in Port Moresby 2006.

The Aviat has pool and pokies facilities with a Bistro and Chinese Restaurant located in the same complex. A safe Children's play area is also available. Wednesday Evenings are Members' Key Draw night with has live band enterntaiment. Fridays & Saturdays are fundraising nights.

Lae Rugby Football League Club

The Lae Rubgy League Club is a popular Club due to the fanatical interest of the PNG people. It hosts weekly games as well as regional games throughout the Rugby League season.

The Club has grand stand facilities which can sit approximately 2000 strong. The club is located next door to the St. Ignatius Kilage Stadium.

There are many other Sporting Clubs & Associations in Lae with which one can be involved. Some of them are Soccer, Softball, Baseball, AFL, Scouts, Boys Brigade, etc. The Morobe Tourism Bureau does not have contacts for these Sporting Clubs & Associations, however, if there is interest we will try our best to locate their management teams.
