The Lae Golf Club
 
 

The Lae Golf Club is located in a picturesque tropical setting three kilometres from the centre of Lae City.

The 18 Hole Golf Course, once a colonial plantation and WWII American army camp, is dotted with native and tropical vegetation. The Lae Golf Club is also host of the North Queenland PGA tournament which is part of the Asia Pacific tours.

Apart from their annual club membership fees for Lae and PNG residents, the club offers specials for out of town visitors to enjoy the golf course, tennis court and club house facilities at a nominal fee.

Huon Club
 
 

Situated in the grounds of the Golf Club, the Huon Club is a club for the 'business-person.'

Open from 4pm each week day, and from midday during the weekend, the Huon Club is a comfortable venue for members and guests to relax.

Lae Bowls Club
 

This popular venue for Lae residents is located in the heart of Eriku, the hub of Lae's commercial zone. 
The club is easily accessible by public transport and there is ample parking space for private vehicles. A cafeteria and functions area are part of the Clubs facilities that are available for use by visitors and members alike. 

The Bowls club offers to out-of-town visitors complimentary use of the Clubs facilities. All new bowlers and vistors welcome!

Lae Yacht Club

The Lae Yacht Club provides a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a quite drink or meal, and visitors and new memberships are welcome all year round.

Located at Voco Point, the Yacht Club facilities include an air-conditioned poker machine room & bar with views overlooking the harbour, main bar and snooker table and the hauswin bar, where the cool sea breeze is enjoyed. 

The restaurant is open for eat-in or take-away lunches daily and dinner is available on Tuesday and Friday evenings.

Aviat Club
The Aviat Club is located five minutes from Lae's Central Business District along the main Huon Road. 

The Club features haus win and bar facilities including pool tables, poker machines, dance area and two adjoining restaurants (Reggies & Aviat Kitchen). 

Swimming Pool facilities are also available and there is ample car-parking space and good security.

Waratahs Sports Club

Offers a venue for a traditional family outing with their special Sunday Open Day. Budget meals are available as well as a range of hot and cold dishes. 

Hot chickens, cooked to perfection on spit roasts are a specialty & available 5 days a week, with prior arrangements.

The Club also has a draught bar and smaller bar facilities & pokies place with pool tables. Child-size swimming pool facilities are available and the kitchen is open Monday/Wednesday/Friday- 4.00pm to 8.00pm.

Located on Church Street, Waratahs is secluded in the industrial sector of Lae with ample parking space and lots of privacy. 

Entry - Between the hours of 12.00 - 5.00 pm, it is open to the public however after 5.00pm non-members must be signed in by current club members.

The management specifies that all customers must refrain from unruly or disruptive behavior at all times while on the premises.

Rotary Club of Lae

The Rotary Club of Lae meets every Tuesdays at the Lae International Hotel - 5.30pm to 9.00pm with Guest speakers at appointed meetings.

Visitors are most welcome and members must be invited to join. The Rotary Club of Lae is a service club within the Morobe Province.

Huon Gulf Rotary Club

The Huon Gulf Rotary Club has an ongoing charity program to assist with all Morobe community schools throughout the whole Province when they are equipment poor.

They are also the sponsors of the Paddy Dewan Program for people who have facial deformities.

Members meet on Wednesdays, gathering at 6.30pm for 7.00pm start at the Lae International Hotel. The Club is part of the Rotary District 9600, and was chartered in 1985.

Lions Club of Lae
Members meet on 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month at 6.30 pm in the evenings.

Lioness Club of Lae

The Lioness Club of Lae actively supports charity programs they earmark to assist.

Some of their raised funds are donated to assist 'Life Education' Programs that provides awareness to school children about nutrition and dangers of drugs.

Another Program Lioness Club of Lae assist is the Angau Hospital Peadiatrics & Women's Ward.

The Members meet on the First Thursday of the Month - Lae International Hotel.

Soroptimist International of Lae

Members meet on the 3rd Thursday of each month at Lae International Hotel. Attendance by invitation only.

Their Annual Fundraiser is the Trivia Quiz Night which is always well attended. Funds raised go towards various charities in PNG i.e. Violence Against Women.

Lae Explorers Club

A group of like-minded adventure/nature enthusiasts who travel on weekends to enjoy rural Morobean settings.

Their adventures range from gumi rides (rubber inner tubes) and mountain climbing to gold panning and turtle watching. An exciting and active group to join for more information contact the Morobe Tourism Bureau.


Lae Game Fishing Club

Located at the Lae Yacht Club this club caters to those interested in fishing the bountiful waters of the Huon Gulf.

Marlin, Wahoo, Sailfish, Yellowfin and Spanish Mackerel are but some of the commonly encountered fish caught every week by gamefishing anglers. Game fishing boats are available for charter.
